Carmen Medina is a Physician’s Assistant located in the McAllen area. Carmen attended University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology followed by her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She has 10 years of practice including woman’s health at Planned Parenthood, UTRGV PA program preceptor and UTSA advancement council member. Carmen began working as a Sub Investigator for Centex Studies in 2015. Her research experience now includes things like High Cholesterol, Type 2 Diabetes, and Influenza. For fun Carmen enjoys instructing dance at Melba’s dance studio, spending time with family, baking and traveling.
Dr. Joel Solis is a Primary Care Physician located in the McAllen area. Dr. Seep first attended University of Texas San Antonio where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology. From there he went on to Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he received his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Solis has 15 years of practice which has included ER, Sports Medicine, Academic instructor at UTRGV Family Medicine Residency, UTRGV PA/NP program preceptor, and UTMB Galveston Medical School adjunct professor. Dr. Solis started working with us here at Centex Studies in 2015. His research experience now includes things like High Cholesterol, Type 2 Diabetes, and Influenza. For fun Dr. Solis enjoys athletics, music, and traveling.
Dr. Peter Ly received his undergraduate degree from Rice University before attending medical school at the University of Texas at Houston. He completed both his General Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent fellowship training at the University of Texas at Houston. During his last year of fellowship, Dr. Ly served as Chief Resident. He performed research during his fellowship training and also presented at several national and local psychiatry meetings. Dr. Ly was the recipient of the American Psychiatry Association’s Excellence in Education Award and was the National Champion in the Mind Games competition in 2008. Dr. Ly is Board Certified in the field of psychiatry and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also very active in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association and the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Ly’s special interests include the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, and childhood behavioral problems.
Dr. Matthew Higgs specializes in Sports Medicine and works with us on many of our orthopedic studies. Dr. Higgs received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Sul Ross State University. He received his medical school training at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Higgs completed his Family Medicine residency at John Peter Smith Hospital. He then chose to pursue his passion for sports and musculoskeletal medicine and remained at John Peter Smith to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Higgs is proficient with diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound as well as in-office ultrasound guided joint injections. His research experience now includes Osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, Low Back Pain, Frozen Shoulder and much more. We are really looking forward to working with him on any new orthopedic trials.
Dr. Amro El Feki is a Neurologist located in the Clear Lake area. His specialty will allow us to broaden our horizons of research into areas such as Parkinson’s Disease, Chronic Migraine, Alzheimer’s, Epilepsy, Dementia and much more. Dr. El Feki is currently the director of Neurology for Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group as well as at Bay Area Regional Medical Center. His medical career began in Mansura, Egypt where he completed his undergraduate work along with his medical school training. He moved to the USA in 2006 when he began attending the University of New Mexico Medical School, where he completed his Internship and Residency requirements before being able to practice in his field of choice, Neurology. What interests him most in this field is Epilepsy and Muscular Dystrophy. In fact, he has even been published in these indications. We are extremely excited to begin new research studies in these new areas and we look forward to working with Dr. El Feki and his patients in the years to come.
